According To This Biologist, Spiders Could Eat Every Human On Earth In A Year!

The fear of spiders that we humans have is actually a good thing. Why? Because it serves as an opportunity to unites as all. No matter if you’re a bodybuilder, an ex or active boxer or a skinny nerd if a spiders appears in your room you will panic!

And even though they can’t really hurt us unless they’re poisonous, we’re still terrified by them. The reason why we all suffer from arachnophobia is because they are a weird looking creatures.

Most of them might be harmless, but when something with 8 legs is running in your room you just can’t feel calm.

The first instinct is to kill it immediately…and that’s when things go wrong.

Because if you make just one little mistake, the spider will disappear and you will be forced to sleep on the couch that night.

Do you remember the internet sensation regarding the fact that we people swallow eight spiders in our sleep yearly? Boy that was a scary thought!

But luckily it wasn’t the truth.

However, the fact that spiders could eat every human on earth in a year is proven by science!

Biologists, Professor Klaus Birkhofer and Dr Martin Nyffeler says that spiders eat between 400 and 800 million tons of prey each year.

The amount of 400-800 million tons is equivalent to all seven billion humans on this planet.

The biologist that were part of the research were relaying on 65 species of spiders. The good news is that the meat that these spiders eat is comes from lizards, birds and small mammals.

The report, published in the Science and Nature journal, stated: “The estimated standing biomass of the global spider community is impressive. There are few groups of terrestrial predaceous arthropods than can compare with spiders in terms of abundance and biomass.

“We hope that these estimates and their significant magnitude raise public awareness and increase the level of appreciation for the important global role of spiders in terrestrial food webs.”

Basically what they’re trying to say is that few spider species are capable of digesting a human. But they choose not to!
